Admission 2027
An application for a Year 7 place must be submitted.
There is no automatic admission to any secondary school, regardless of the primary or junior school that a child currently attends.
The Local Education Authority (LEA) will issue letters with instructions for the online applications process to those parents whose child, in September 2027, will be moving from a junior or primary school to a secondary school. The Local Education Authority (LEA) will open the online application site on Monday 14th September 2026, which requires parents to indicate their choice of secondary school. The online application allows parents to list more than one school in priority order. The expected timetable to process applications for admissions to secondary schools for September 2027 is as follows:-
OPENING DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS – 10:00am, MONDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2026
CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY – 4pm, SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER 2026
NOTIFICATION TO APPLICANTS OF OFFER OR REFUSAL OF PLACED (THE ‘OFFER DATE’) – MONDAY, 1ST MARCH 2027
PARENTS TO NOTIFY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY OF ACCEPTANCE OR REFUSAL OF PLACES OFFERED – MONDAY, 15TH MARCH 2027
CLOSING DATE FOR PARENTS/CARERS TO SUBMIT AN APPEAL – 4pm HOURS, MONDAY, 5TH APRIL 2027

In all cases admission to Porthcawl Comprehensive is dealt with initially by Bridgend County Borough Council.

TRANSFERRING TO PORTHCAWL FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL
If you are considering moving your child to Porthcawl from another school, there is a useful guide ‘Starting School’ available to view on the Bridgend Council website. Most transfers can only be made at the start of a school term.
