A Level Results 2026

Thursday, August 13, 2026 Exams

Once again, it is with great pride that I announce another outstanding year of A-Level examination results at Porthcawl Comprehensive School, reflecting the dedication, resilience, and ambition of our pupils. On behalf of everyone at PCS, I offer my sincere congratulations to all Year 13 and Year 12 pupils on their achievements.

Success can be measured in many ways; however, at its heart lies the progress our pupils make in their learning – something that will serve them well into the future. These results mark the culmination of what has been a successful academic year for Year 13. Our school community celebrates strong outcomes across a broad range of subjects, with many pupils achieving top grades and securing places at leading universities, as well as valuable apprenticeships and employment opportunities. I am immensely proud of their accomplishments.

We are absolutely delighted with this year’s outcomes. They stand as a testament to the hard work, determination, and commitment of our pupils, supported every step of the way by our dedicated staff and families. Every pupil should take great pride in what has been achieved. This year’s results further highlight our commitment to both academic excellence and inclusive education. A significant number of pupils have attained A* and A grades, with many surpassing their personal targets and progressing to competitive pathways in fields such as Medicine, Engineering, the Arts, and the Sciences.

Some exciting stories shared with us today include William Evans, our highest-performing male student, who has secured a place to study Medicine at the University of Bristol. William is one of several students embarking on medical careers, reflecting another exceptionally successful year for aspiring healthcare professionals.

A number of pupils will be pursuing studies in business, economics and engineering. Our highest performing female student Jemima Dutton is set to travel to Bristol University to study Economics with a year abroad, while many others are taking exciting next steps in a wide range of academic and professional fields.

We are also delighted that Holly Wiseman has won a place at the prestigious University of Cambridge to study Law, an outstanding achievement that reflects years of hard work and dedication.

Alongside those progressing to university, many of our students are embarking on exciting apprenticeships or taking carefully planned gap years, providing valuable opportunities to gain experience, develop new skills and explore future career pathways.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and their achievements this year. Their hard work, resilience and determination have opened doors to a diverse range of opportunities, and we wish them every success as they begin the next chapter of their journeys. Congratulations to every one of them on their fantastic results and well-deserved accomplishments

At A-Level, our Year 13 students sat approximately 1500 papers over the examination period. Our provisional results show that 35% of all grades awarded were A*- A, approximately 60% of all grades awarded were A*- B and 80% of all grades awarded were A*- C. The overall A*- E pass rate was almost 100% with 95% achieving three A*-E grades and the year group’s wider points score was very strong. Almost three quarters of Year 13 pupils achieved at least 3 or more A Levels graded at A*- C and approximately 20% achieved 3 or more A Levels graded at A*- A grades.

At AS-Level, our Year 12 pupils have also performed very well. Over a quarter of all grades awarded were at grade A and there was a high number of grades awarded at A-B and A-C. These results provide a very strong foundation for moving into Year 13 and onto A Level study from September 2026 – congratulations!

These accomplishments go beyond examination results; they reflect the character, personal development and potential of our pupils. We are excited to see them move forward into the next stage of their journeys, confident that they are well equipped for the opportunities ahead. I look forward to hearing about the many successes that lie ahead for each of you.

I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all pupils receiving their results today, and to commend both pupils and staff for their hard work, commitment and unwavering dedication

Best wishes,

Mr Stephens
