GCSE Results 2026
GCSE excellence continues at Porthcawl Comprehensive School in 2026
Once again, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 pupils as this year’s GCSE results are released. The school community is delighted with the outcomes, which reflect the dedication and perseverance of our pupils, the commitment of our staff, and the invaluable support of families. These results represent many hours of effort and determination from everyone involved, and I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all.
These outcomes also embody our deeply inclusive ethos, where every pupil is supported, valued, and encouraged to succeed and thrive as the ‘Porthcawl Pupil’. At Porthcawl Comprehensive School, we are committed to ensuring that no pupil is left behind. Whether attaining the highest grades or making meaningful personal progress, every journey is recognised and celebrated, and we are immensely proud of all our pupils. Our staff have worked tirelessly to guide and support each learner, while families have provided steadfast encouragement. Today marks a celebration of our entire community. These results are more than numbers—they reflect years of hard work, growth, and aspiration. All our pupils should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
Our provisional GCSE results, (subject to increases from remarks), show that three quarters of pupils achieved at least 5 or more GCSEs graded at A*- C including English Language and Mathematics. Almost 45% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs graded at A*- A and 85% of pupils achieved A*-C. Most importantly all pupils left PCS with a range of recognised qualifications. Our Capped 9 score, (a pupil’s best 9 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science), along with the school’s points scores in Literacy, Numeracy and Science were once again very strong. There are so many individual success stories, we are very proud of all pupils’ achievements, and it has been wonderful to share this day with pupils, families and staff.
I wish all Year 11 pupils every success as they take their next steps. Our pupils are moving on to a wide range of exciting opportunities, and we are particularly pleased that so many pupils have chosen to continue their education with us in our thriving Sixth Form, which continues to grow in both strength and reputation. To all our pupils – please stay in touch. I look forward to hearing about the next stages of your journey and the opportunities you go on to embrace. The future is bright and yours to shape – best of luck to you all.
Our Year 10 pupils have also made an excellent start to the GCSE studies – completing several examination modules this year. Their achievements deserve recognition and celebration, as they have laid strong foundations for continued success. Everyone at Porthcawl Comprehensive School is incredibly proud of these early accomplishments, including some outstanding module results in English, Mathematics and Science.
I am very proud of all that we do at Porthcawl Comprehensive School – as we look ahead, we remain committed to nurturing every learner, fostering ambition, and ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to succeed and develop as ‘The Porthcawl Pupil’.
On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all pupils and staff on another year of academic success.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
