A Level Results 2023

Thursday, August 17, 2023 Exams

Another year of excellent results at PCS!

We are delighted with this summer’s A Level examination results at Porthcawl Comprehensive School. I would like to congratulate all Year 12 and Year 13 students on their achievements. Students at AS and A2 have had their endeavors rewarded with excellent results. There is a large debt of gratitude for teachers who have worked so hard once again this year and for families who have supported their sons and daughters. Excellent results truly reflect the effective partnership between a school, its learners and the support from home – well done all!

It gives me a real sense of pride seeing the young people in our community rewarded for their hard work. We are pleased that our students have received an outstanding set of results which will ensure they can move on to the next phase of their education and lives. Throughout their time in the Sixth Form at PCS they have all shown such resilience and determination.

Our Year 12 students have performed well at AS Level. The results achieved provide a very strong foundation for moving into Year 13 and onto A Level from September 2023 – congratulations!

At A Level, our Year 13 students sat an incredible 1417 papers over the examination period. Our provisional results show that near 70% of all grades awarded were A*-B, 41% of all grades awarded were A*-A and 86% of all grades awarded were A*-C.

Over 95% of our students have moved onto a place at a university this year with approximately 40% of these students securing a place at a Russell Group University. Our students will be studying a range of degrees including Law, Architecture, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, Design, Physics and Sport – to name a few! Other students have secured or are looking for employment, some have gained places on high level apprenticeships and some have chosen to take time out before continuing their studies or embarking on a career. I wish all of them every success in the future and look forward to welcoming them back to school whenever they are in Porthcawl.

At A Level, over 80% of students achieved at least 3 or more A Levels graded at A*-C and just over 27% of students achieved 3 or more A Levels graded at A*-A grades. In addition, 100% of students achieved the Level 3 Threshold.

These excellent results have ensured that Porthcawl students continue to secure places at some of the best universities in the country, move onto high-level apprenticeships, secure employment or embark on traineeships – I am one very proud Headteacher!

To end, I would like to congratulate all staff and students for their hard work and steadfast dedication.

Best wishes,

Mr Stephens

Headteacher
